We all know that being busy is a part of life, but when it becomes overwhelming, even the simplest tasks can feel like an insurmountable mountain to climb. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to get your productivity back on track! Here are 8 tips for giving your productivity a boost in no time.

Give Your Productivity a Boost with These 8 Tips

Hack your brain and increase your productivity with these strategies:

1. Set an intention

Most people aren't able to concentrate since they don't know exactly what they want to focus on or for how long. Give yourself a fighting chance by choosing a specific task for a specific amount of time. Set a timer for 10 minutes. Put your phone away and focus on the task at hand with 100% of your attention until the buzzer goes off, then take a two-minute break to check email or social media before beginning again. Give it specific instructions and your brain will do its utmost to fulfill them.

With this printable Be Intentional Binder you can turn your intentions into accountability. It's your complete solution to completing tasks, goal setting, project tracking, and vision casting.

2. Meditate

Did you know that meditation has so many benefits, including increased focus and stress relief? It's now extremely popular across the world. All it takes is a few minutes of your time every day to meditate! My personal favorite meditation practices are belly breathing (diaphragmatic breathing) and body awareness scans.

3. Take regular breaks

Experiment with break frequency and duration. The best option for most people is either 25 minutes of work and a five-minute break or 50 minutes of work and a 10-minute break. I personally like giving myself 10 minutes of hyperfocus on one task, with no interruptions. Then resting for a minute or two. Discover what works best for you to boost your productivity! Timers can be powerful tools that keep us on track throughout the day, so make sure to check them often as well.

If you've been sitting in one place during your work time, make sure to get up and walk around during your break.

4. Avoid distractions

Most of us give in to the temptation to distraction far too easily. It's a very difficult habit to break, but it is important that you do so if you want your workday to be more productive than stressful. We quickly go from feeling bored or stressed and then switch over to something amusing like checking email or reading text messages on our phones. The most productive people are able to consciously stop themselves before they succumb; however, avoiding distractions during breaks also makes all the difference. Turn your phone on silent. Closeout of all unnecessary browser tabs (goodbye Facebook). Avoid these urges by learning how say "no" when tempted because this will help keep your focus where it should remain-on completing tasks at hand with greater ease rather than giving in to the temptation of distraction.

5. Alternate high and low-focus tasks

Many people report greater productivity when they alternate between cognitively intense activities and those that require less intellectual effort. This is similar to interval training in the gym, where you work out at a higher intensity for a short period of time before cooling down with lower-intensity exercise. Lower-level activities might include returning calls and emails or other routine tasks; this allows your brain to rest while giving it an opportunity to recover so soon enough, it’s ready for another round of more intense activity!

Coloring is a fantastic low-energy low-focus activity that you can use on your down time. Relax, de-stress, and give your brain time to recuperate with our printable coloring pages.

6. Stay hydrated

Most people are partially dehydrated, so try to drink plenty of water. I know it sounds boring and slightly redundant but the solution is simple: chug your 20-ounce bottle every few hours -don’t worry about trying too hard with how many ounces you take in. It might seem like a chore at first (especially if that means carrying around one more thing), but trust me when I say that hydrating will do wonders for your brain function!

7. Develop a positive mindset

Did you know a positive outlook on life makes you more productive? Studies show that mindset affects productivity and happiness. Work on having a positive outlook and accomplish even more each day, making your days happier as well!

8. Rest

Last, but certainly not least. You have to rest. You can’t just do a few sprints and expect to be productive the rest of your day. Make sure you have time where you aren't working so that when it is necessary, your brain will be ready to take on the challenge! Remember, your self-worth is not determined by how much you do in a day.

In order to be productive, you have to take care of yourself. If your energy levels are low or you're feeling overwhelmed from being busy, try some of these tips for a productivity boost! Give your brain every chance to be your ally on this important journey. Pin this post so that when the time comes and you need it most, it's right in front of you.
